The Bideford Half Marathon is well known for being a swift half and therefore appeals to many people looking for a Personal Best or wanting to test their fitness in preparation for a Spring Marathon and it lived up to expectations.
The course takes in the magnificent countryside alongside the River Torridge and the return trip is along the Tarka Trail. It is well supported by local people with wonderful marshals and a great atmosphere. Bideford Amateur Athletic Club who organise the event do a fantastic job.
16 members from Launceston Road Runners lined up at the start, eager to give their all. The heavy rain just as the starting klaxon sounded was not welcome, with lots of moans and groans, but it soon passed over, leaving relatively ideal running conditions.
The club runners were happy to celebrate later with several PB’s and a couple of trophies;
Martin Hynes claimed 1st place in the 65+ category and Jaine Hynes 2nd place in the 55+ category.
