It was wonderful to once again welcome the Treggy 7 back on to the race calendar and the support and atmosphere seems to get better every year!
The annual Cornwall Grand Prix road race, hosted by Launceston Road Runners, took place on Sunday 4th September, with 369 runners lining up in the town square for the start. After a race briefing and final countdown by our new Race Director, Vicki Holt, they were off, with a lovely down-hill start passing the Castle and down to Newport.   From there, the runners enjoyed the views and quiet traffic along Underlane before tackling The Hill up into Tregadillet village.    Crowds and supporters cheered on the runners through the village and all the way back through Trebursye into Launceston for the final sprint to the finish line in the Castle Green.
The weather was kind with the rain holding off until all the runners were in, and support from marshals at every station was outstanding.
First place was taken by Tom Morton of Mile High Club in an amazing time of 38 min 18, with Sam Larkham of Tavistock AC 2nd in 39 min 29 and Robert Orton of Bodmin Road Runners taking third place in 40 min 00.
First lady went to Anna Harold of Truro Running Club in 45min, with Sarah Roberts of Brighton Phonex taking 2nd place in 47 min 40 and Rosie Gibbons of Cornwall AC taking 3rd place in 48 min 59.
Launceston Road Runners themselves had a fantastic turn out with 28 members running, and some great results including Matthew Stringer first in in 47min 09 and Benedict Holtan Carter first female in in 53 min 36.
The club have received so many messages of thanks from numerous local clubs for once again putting on a successful and well-organised event.
In turn, LRR would like to thank their sponsors, View Property, Specsavers, Ambrosia, Firebrand, Ginsters, Greggs, Tesco and Hawkins for their kind contributions to the day.
